My Story

When I look back at some of my own personal experiences with massage or spa environments that I’ve visited over the years, I remember the few times where either a massage therapist, spa establishment or patrons made offhand homophobic remarks or their attitudes were homophobic in nature.  This made me feel uncomfortable, unsafe, vulnerable and in general, treated in a way that made me feel like I did not belong there, leaving feeling bad about my experience and never to return or recommend.

I made my decision to end my 30-year Retail career in March 2024 after my 11 year sabbatical and decided to start over into a new field.  I realized I didn’t want to go back to what I was doing but wanted to find something more meaningful, something I was excited about & helping others.  I still wanted to work with people but made who may have experienced similar situations and be a change agent.  Trusting someone with your body can feel impossible when you don't feel comfortable enough to advocate for yourself, or if you have experienced trauma, or when you already feel unsafe in this world, as so many of us do.

I particularly see a need for sensitivity and empathy when working with my LGBTQ+ community.  I have seen and firsthand experienced how much the struggle can be with trying to find safety in day-to-day situations, and I can only imagine how complicated it would be for them to schedule a massage.  My goal is to make bodywork as accessible as possible to the people who need it the most  and may not otherwise feel comfortable seeking bodywork.

My Approach to Therapeutic Bodywork

As massage therapists, we are called to serve others from a place of compassion and healing.

Taking the time to listen to each client's massage goals, curating a session specifically for their needs, and approaching them with an open heart and an open mind is how we should be treating every client who walks through our doors every day with the same level or professionalism and respect, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity.

I am proud to be an independent, LGBTQ+ gay-owned business that treats and accepts all peoples and be able to provide a safe place for our queer community to receive bodywork.  And although my client base is predominately queer to support the greater LGTBQ+ community, it will not be limited to and I am honored to accept all.

All are welcome!

The beneficial effects of Massage Therapy

The benefits of massage therapy are numerous and are based on the physiological effects that touch and physical contact impart through the various techniques. The body releases endorphins, neurotransmitters or chemicals, which reduce the sensation of pain and induces a feeling of calmness.

  • Provides nurturing touch and makes you feel great!

  • Induces relation of the whole body and overall sense of well-being.

  • Massage acts as a mechanical cleanser, stimulating blood flow & lymph circulation, hastening the elimination of metabolic wastes and toxic debris.

  • Enhances & promotes quality, restful sleep, reducing anxiety, depression, stress and tension.

  • Massage provides and environment for self-appreciation, nurturing & enhances positive self-image.

At the time of service, you can present whatever payment method you want (Tap-to-pay, Visa, Mastercard, AMEX, Discover, Apple Pay, Google Pay, electronic gift card or Cash). If you are using a VAGARO membership credit, we will zero out the transaction so that no payment is required.

  • Appointment cancellation policy: Please reschedule or cancel at least 23 hours before the beginning of your appointment or you may be charged a cancellation fee of 50% the price of your scheduled appointment. If you are up to 15 minutes late, your appointment will be shortened in length accordingly. if you are 15 minutes or more late, you will be asked to reschedule.

  • Masking or other accommodations: Masking policy is that if a client is masked, I will mask too. If you need further accommodations, such as preferring that as practitioner I take a Covid test on the day of your appointment, please contact me in advance.

  • What to expect when getting a massage: A lot of us are super anxious people too. It’s always helpful for me to know if you’re feeling anxious or uncomfortable so I can be extra mindful, whether that means explaining things more clearly or being more modest with draping. The good news is, the hardest parts of a massage is getting on the table, flipping over, and getting off the table. The rest of the time, all you have to do is lie there.

  • Some people talk. Some people are silent. Some people snore. As long as you’re not acting inappropriately (making unwanted comments or gestures, exposing yourself, or initiating physical contact), there’s literally no way to mess it up.

  • A quick rundown:

    • Arrival: I typically arrive 10-15 minutes early to allow for set up; this way we can start and end on time.  When I arrive, our initial greeting, I will arrive with massage table and supplies. You will instruct me where you would like me to set up which typically takes between 10-15 minutes. This can be any space in your home, office or hotel room you feel most comfortable with. Depending on weather, you can also opt to set up outside in the privacy of your back yard or patio. You are welcome to wait in the same room or return in a few minutes while I finish setting up.  Feel free to use the restroom or grab a drink of water.  I will alert you when I am ready to start the session.

    • Session: I will do a short verbal intake interview to go over areas you would like to focus or avoid. Then we will go over your session and I will instruct how to get on the table. For most massages, you will undress fully and start facedown under the top sheet, but feel free to undress to your preferred comfort level. I will step out of the room and allow you to get ready, and as long as you are covered up when we begin we are ready to start. Once I return, I will adjust your bolster and headrest as needed.

    • Adjustments: If you run cold, let me know in advance and I can bring my table warmer to make your experience more comfortable. I have a portable towel warmer; both the table and towel warmers need to be plugged in, so a plug in will need to be near by.

    • During a typical massage, you will typically flip over about halfway through. You will be covered with a blanket and sheet while you turn over and move down about a foot so that your head is on the table instead of on the headrest. I’ll re-adjust your bolster as needed.

    • At the end of the session, I will let you know the session is over and instruct you to take your time getting get up slowly, get dressed and to meet outside the room when you’re ready. “Take your time” realistically means take up to five minutes to stretch, slowly get up, put your clothes back on, and try to put yourself back together.

    • Check-out: You can pay with a variety of methods, your choice thru the VAGARO app. (Tap-to-pay, Visa, Mastercard, AMEX, Discover, Apple Pay, Google Pay, electronic gift card or Cash). The check out screen will ask if you would like to leave a tip* and if you want a receipt emailed or text to you, or none.

    • That’s it! You’ll do great, I promise.

My business is solely mobile at this time and do not have an establishment. I meet you where you feel the most safe and comfortable in the privacy of your home, office or hotel room.

  • Kid Friendly: No Kids

  • Billing insurance or health savings accounts: I do not bill your insurance company directly, but and option is for clients who have successfully submitted itemized receipts for reimbursement. Insurance companies typically require a doctor’s note and diagnosis code, which we must include in our documentation. I can also provide itemized receipts for HSA and FSA.

  • What to look for in a massage therapist: A couple things. First of course is training and certification. State by state differ but certification requires state-specific minimum hours of education, passage of an exam, and a criminal background check. Only therapists who have been approved by CAMTC can call themselves CMTs, or Certified Massage Therapists. The second consideration is skill and modality. There are many different types of massage, and it’s ideal to find someone whose style matches up with your preferences and needs. Do some research on massage modalities and call potential massage therapists to figure out if their work will be a good fit for you. The third consideration is chemistry. I believe that finding the right massage therapist means finding someone who you click with. You should feel safe and comfortable around this person, enjoy their level of conversation before and during your session, and just generally look forward to seeing them. Sometimes, even if a massage therapist is really skilled, you just won’t feel comfortable going to them. Listen to that instinct—it’s okay to be picky about who you trust with your body!

  • Length of massage: I offer a few options to accommodate clients' varying needs and resources: 60-minute massage sessions are ideal for deep, focused work on no more than two areas, or a full-body massage with additional focus on up to one area. For example, if you want a full body massage with extra time spent on your shoulders, 60 minutes will be enough time. 90 and 120-minute massage sessions are ideal for a super-relaxing full body massage or a full body massage when you have more than one area where you want deep work. For example, if you are having shoulder and hip pain and want a full body massage, I’d recommend a full 90 minutes or more as needed.

  • Concerns or other questions (self-conscious, comfort level of undress, sliding-scale rates): I am focusing on your muscles and soft tissue, not on how your body looks. I make it a habit never to comment on clients’ bodies unless there’s something that might be harmful to them or me (ask about a rash, for example, to make sure you as the client is aware of it, and that it’s not contagious). Although I can work around clothing if needed, it’s easiest for you to be either fully nude or in your underwear (bras off, please). I will only uncover the body part I’m working on and are always happy to accommodate based on your comfort level. When in doubt, please ask. Some massage techniques work better with direct contact on the skin, while others prefer to work sensitive areas such as glutes and hip flexors over the sheet or partially clothed. Please feel free to call ahead for more information. If you are asking for sliding pay scale, I am able to refer you to a colleague, a massage specialist or establishment, who share many of my values and provide excellent bodywork at more affordable rates.
